The Ramat Hanadiv Gardens were designed by landscape architect Shlomo Oren Weinberg, and extend across approximately 17 acres of meticulously planned and carefully tended landscape. Surrounding the tomb of Baron Edmond de Rothschild, the gardens evoke the fragility of life through an abundance of beauty and bloom that is both serene and consoling.
Here and there, among the garden paths, more untamed corners lie hidden – pockets of thickets that recall the wolves in Yehuda Amichai’s poem The Mayor, which “come to howl at the dogs that have become the servants of humankind”. These spaces offer a glimpse of something less cultivated and more spontaneous, closer in character to the woodland and wild landscape of the nature park that surrounds the gardens at Ramat Hanadiv.
For these shrub-filled spaces, we brought together works by five artists. Three of them — Yaakov Dorchin’s Shelter, Moshe Roas’s Relevé (Marom), and Eden Bannet’s Road Fossil, were newly commissioned as a response to the experience of encountering art within the thickets. Works by Zohar Gotesman and Dov Feigin (who passed away in 2000) are on loan for the duration of the exhibition, extending its dialogue and enriching the relationships between sculpture, vegetation, and place.

Many trails traverse the Memorial Gardens. We recommend this route, but you can choose to walk another route
Sustainable gardening is defined as gardening that considers the needs of the current generation without harming the needs of future generations. It includes garden design that considers the existing elements on site – the landscape, soil, environment and vegetation suitable for the region
