The Fifth Wine Glass- Photo Exhibit: Gilad Puny
Another good reason to visit the regional wine festival at Ramat Hanadiv is a unique exhibition by the photographer, Gilad Puni.
This exhibit portrays the people of Israel's wine world – winery owners, vintners, viticulturists, even one kashrut supervisor.
The photographs sensitively portray the relationships between the individuals, their profession, and their products, while revealing the depth and complexity of the world of wine.
In his work with wine makers, grape growers and other people from the industry throughout the area of HaNadiv Valley, Puny focuses on their surroundings and emphasizes
the unique elements of each vineyard, person and environment. Impelled by curiosity and unafraid of research, he seeks and preserves interesting angles and hidden moments.
Through Puny's portraits, the viewer can experience the fascinating process of making wine, starting with cultivation of the land and vineyards, through production in the winery, all the way to the moment of pouring the wine into a glass.
Naomi Leshem, curator of the exhibit, is an artist herself with many international photography exhibitions in her resume.
Gilad Puny's exhibit will be displayed in the Memorial Gardens of Ramat Hanadiv as part of the Wine & Plenty Festival, 5-6th July, 2017.
* In Jewish tradition, the fifth glass of wine represents hope, redemption and aspirations for the future aspirations.
