The Happy Herb
An attractive herb nursery, located in the deserted Roman quarry on the grounds of Kibbutz Ma'agan Michael, is geared towards educating the public about sustainability, healthy foods and organic horticulture.
The nursery serves as an intergenerational meeting place for the kibbutz’s communities and has become a focus of diverse community activities for both formal and informal educational frameworks. Similarly, the process of turning Borgani into a place that allows employment of residents, a rehabilitative therapeutic center for diverse sectors of the population.
The nursery hosts a woodwork workshop, in which decorative containers and furniture are made from recycled wood. Similarly, a community project to collect food scraps and turn them into fertilizer through compostization also takes place here.
Partners in driving this project are the management of Kibbutz Ma’agan Michael and Hof Hacarmel Regional Council.
