This week, we’ve chosen to bring you the Almena Theatre, whose mission is to bring hearts together. You are invited to come and enjoy a dual-language performance — Hebrew and Arabic — that all can understand.
One rainy, cloudy night, Shmulik Kipod — the prickly porcupine — is looking for his playmate, but loses his way. He finds himself in a room with a sick child, Gadi, who coincidentally is also looking for a friend to play with.
But what can there be between the porcupine and the child? This one has prickly quills, and that one has the flu. This one speaks Hebrew, and that one speaks Arabic! What chance is there that they can become friends?
Almena Theatre for Children and Youth belongs to the not-for-profit association founded by a group of Jewish and Arab creators and headed by the actor/director Norman Issa and his partner, the playwright/actor Gideona Raz.
The organization aims to serve as a model that spreads their vision of united hearts, mutual acceptance, and coexistence, which they themselves realize through Almena’s multi-cultural children’s and youth theatre.
