              Butterflies as Bio-indicators

In Israel, there thrives a notion perpetualized by generations of SPNI (Israeli Society for the Protection of Nature) guides, text books and high school and university curricula, that the Asphodel serves as an indicator of grazing pressure, although this alleged connection has not been studied in a quantitative-scientific manner.
